Fabric basket

quick projects 02. 12. 2015.

Spring will be here soon. I have started to feel the need for organizing our house. Such little fabric baskets help me enjoy the process.

Step 1: Select your exterior and lining fabrics. You will also need a stronger kind of interfacing. Step 2: Cut out 16" squares from both the exterior and lining fabric. From the interfacing, you will have to cut out a 15 1/2" square. Step 3: Cut out a 4 1/2" square from each corner to form a kind of x shape. (On the cotton fabrics you can do this in one step by folding the fabric in four and cutting out the 4 1/2" squares from the corner without a fold.) Iron the interfacing onto the exterior fabric. Step 4: Fold the exterior fabric across right sides together and pin the sides. Repeat for lining.Step 5: Using a 1/4" seam allowance, sew down the outer sides of both the exterior and the lining fabric. Step 6: Matching the other sides of the basket, pin and sew down the same way you did on the other sides. Step 7: You should now have both the exterior and the lining fabric in a basket shape.Step 8: Turn the lining fabric right side out and place it into the exterior. They should be now right sides together. Leaving about a 2" opening, sew the top sides together.Step 9: Turn the basket right side out through the opening you left. Iron and pin the opening. Close the opening by top stiching the basket all the way around.Step 10: And now you have a sweet basket. You can start getting organized.
