Jelly Strip Hairband

quick projects 06. 16. 2015.

If you have jelly roll strips left and want to display them for everyone to see, try making a hairband out of them. Compliments are guaranteed. :)

Step 1: Choose two from your left over jelly roll strips. They should be at least 38 inches long.Step 2: If you use strips that differ in length, cut them both to 38 inches. Then cut off one end in an angle as demonstrated above. I started at 1 1/4 inch at the end, and went up to the 2,5 inch width over 10 inches. This angle will give a nice ending to the hairband, and it will be easier to bind.Step 3: Repeat cut on the other side.Step 4: Using a 1/4 inch seam allowance, sew the two strips together, leaving a 4-inch opening at the middle of the hairband. Step 5: Turn the hairband right side out, and tuck in the corners using a pointy (but not sharp!) utensil. Iron and pin the opening. Sew it closed, going all the way around the hairband to give it a nice, finished look.Step 6: You're all done. Tie, wear, and reap those compliments! On the cover photo you can see the aqua side without the ribbon, here I put on the red side with the ribbon. I love the variability.
