Reversible handbag
quick projects
06. 15. 2015.
This little reversible bag is ideal for short trips to the park or even to the beach. It's easy to make and a joy to use.
Step 1: Take a piece of larger paper and, following the above measurements, make a pattern. This pattern you will be able to use as many times as you wish later on. :) Step 2: Place your pattern on the fold of your fabric. Cut out. As you see here, the seam allownce is already added to the pattern, so you will only have to follow the edge of the paper. Note: no seam allowance on the bottom side, as the pattern is placed on the fold.Step 3: Repeat cut for lining fabric as well. Step 4: Sew down the sides of the exterior fabric, but not the handles or the little square in the corner. Repeat for the lining.Step 5: Line up the sewing line with the fold line on the bottom of the exterior fabric and put at least two pins in there. Step 6: Sew the opening closed. Step 7: Repeat for the other corner and the corners of the interior fabric.Step 8: Line up the seam allowances and sew together the short sides of the handles on both exterior and interior fabric. Step 9: Place the interior fabric inside the exterior right sides together. Pin them together along the inner U-shape as demonstrated above.Step 10: Now comes the only part I did not enjoy so much in the process: snip in the seam allowance on the unsewn sides, and iron the seam allowance to the wrong side of the fabric. Step 11: Turn your bag inside out. Tuck the interior fabric into the exterior of the bag.Step 13: Pin the ironed edges of the handles and sew them down, sewing close to the edge of the fabric. Step 14: Iron once more, and you're done! Your reversibel handbag is ready to be taken with you. This is what it looks like when turned inside out. My only problem is, I never know which side I like better. So I just keep reversing my bag. :)Step 1: Take a piece of larger paper and, following the above measurements, make a pattern.
